Tonight’s feature presentation: Japanese dance class taught in English! Maybe I’ll be able to leave with amazing calves, fuchsia hair aaaaaannnnd the ability to dance! But just as it was getting interesting it ended… Onto the news. News is much more interesting when it is told in a British accent. I don’t really watch the news back home since A) I don’t really have time and B) I don’t really have a TV. I could just have my boss read me the news (that mean you Peter =b) or… maybe I could watch the BBC News online and finally have something to help me pay attention. “Denmark is the first country in the world to place a tax on foods with saturated fat.” Even that... it just sounds better with the accent.
I still smell like osso bucco. I vacuum packed quite a few… my hand being the operative tool but when I fall asleep at night I generally have said hands near my face and the wafts of stewed meat and carrots is the last thing I really want… the hand cream doesn’t help either since I bought it in Sonthofen and it is made from potatoes… slight hint of vegetation but touchably soft…. Like my laundry :) The constant hand washing and cold weather is wreaking havoc on my hands… they had been better since I stopped using the alcohol sanitizer in the kitchen, but still I feel a bit leathery like all those zoomed in worst case scenario pictures in the Aveno commercials… I’ll keep up with the potato cream. Just hope I don’t wake up craving soup.
Today Maya and I ran the middle course station… Munk fish, black lentils, lobster bisque foam and a flower for garnish… delicious and quite pretty. I need to bring my camera into the kitchen. Something I really want to improve on is my plating. Here it is super simple and somewhat repetitious with the use of foam sauces, but they all look really good and generally only with a few components. After tomorrow I move to Garde Manger. I like the variety I am being surrounded by… but there is a general theme of color and simplicity... coming together in quite a lovely fashion.
Tomorrow morning I am to arrive at 8. Yay. Didn’t feel like going to the lobby tonight just plopping here on my bed to watch the end of Shrek 2. Laugh and pass out… no grumpy lobby people to stare me down or look annoyed at my presence. Don’t have the energy… not tonight. But I’ll be back tomorrow.
So many times when I travel, BBC news is the only English speaking station..
