Not much about today...

I remember working on math problems, when my dad called home and told my mom to put on the TV. My biggest fear was where my grandmother was.  She called us later on that day to let us know that she was okay.  She was actually supposed to be in the World Trade Center that day doing work for the Red Cross, but the event had been moved to the following week… Thank God… But I remember… Even here in Germany, where the numbers 9/11 don’t really mean anything.
Today is one of those days I wish my mom was here to massage my head and shoulders and make my headache magically go away. Maybe it was having two days off or maybe it is the 10ish days lacking in good sleep... I don’t know but tonight I have no desire to get up and walk over to the hotel lobby. Call me lazy, and as much as I would like to see what is happening in the world I am going to stick right here and post this tomorrow with my new source of internet. It is almost here!!!!! Internet available in my room???!!! Such a luxury!  Granted it will be an every other day deal but still it means I can roll over, push a button, and enjoy my notes in private.
Nothing of great consequence happened today… Oh except, yes! except watching a 80 something year old man pedal his bike successfully up a hill that I walk up breathing heavily … He clearly has had years of amazing calf muscles… and the experience showed. At first was thinking, “Awe, how cute! Then I almost cringed at his 1 mph speed. I wanted to walk up behind him and push him on, but then I noticed the determination in his wrinkled face and the grip of his worn hands. It was going to take him longer, but he was still able to do it… His own little Tour de Germany. How delightful… thinking of it now makes me feel quite the bum for flopping onto my bed and not just getting up, but nope… not so much to make me move.
As for the kitchen: More chopping, more potato gratin, straining the soup of the day, plating, cleaning, another burn to add to the collection on my arm, and a lovely ice cold beer to refresh my sweaty, dirty self. Not bad, not bad at all. I’m just tired and hoping tonight I’ll get some good sleep. My mattress is very hard and it takes me so long to find a sleep worthy position. I keep waking up, rolling over and then back, doing my best to just shut off the need for my foam mattress pad and well dented pillow, trained to meet my needs and sitting unused at home.
I might just fall asleep on my keyboard… yeah I’m officially fighting with my blinks. Stick a fork in me, I’m done.
